The First Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians

Chapter LVIII.--Blessings sought for all that call upon God.

May God, who seeth all things, and who is the Ruler of all spirits and the Lord of all flesh--who chose our Lord Jesus Christ and us through Him to be a peculiar ¹ people--grant to every soul that calleth upon His glorious and holy Name, faith, fear, peace, patience, long-suffering, self-control, purity, and sobriety, to the well-pleasing of His Name, through our High Priest and Protector, Jesus Christ, by whom be to Him glory, and majesty, and power, and honour, both now and for evermore. Amen.

Im übrigen wolle der allsehende "Gott, der Gebieter der Geister und Herr alles Fleisches"¹, der den Herrn Jesus Christus und durch ihn uns erwählt hat zu einem bevorzugten Volke, jeder Seele, die seinen erhabenen und heiligen Namen anruft, verleihen Glaube, Furcht, Friede, Geduld und Langmut, Enthaltsamkeit, Keuschheit und Mäßigung, auf dass sie wohlgefällig sei seinem Namen durch unseren obersten Priester und Führer Jesus Christus, durch den ihm Ruhm und Verherrlichung, Stärke und Ehre sei jetzt und in alle Ewigkeit der Ewigkeiten. Amen.
