7. Über die Eigenschaften derer, welche die hl. Taufe empfangen haben.

Es sei euch, Geliebte, wohl bekannt, daß die, welche auf den Tod Jesu getauft sind, nicht mehr sündigen sollen. Denn wie die Todten zu sündigen unfähig sind, so sind auch die, welche mit Christo gestorben, der Sünde nicht zugänglich. Wir glauben also nicht, Brüder, daß Jemand, der durch das Bad des Lebens gewaschen, noch mit den Ausschweifungen der Bösen sich beflecke. Wer aber nach der Taufe gesündigt, wird, wenn er nicht wieder zur Einsicht kommt und bereut und zu sündigen aufhört, zur Hölle verurtheilt werden.

VII. What Ought to Be the Character of the Initiated.

Beloved, be it known to you that those who are baptized into the death of our Lord Jesus are obliged to go on no longer in sin; for as those who are dead cannot work wickedness any longer, so those who are dead with Christ cannot practice wickedness. We do not therefore believe, brethren, that any one who has received the washing of life continues in the practice of the licentious acts of transgressors. Now he who sins after his baptism, unless he repent and forsake his sins, shall be condemned to hell-fire.
