10. Allgemeines Gebet für die Gläubigen.

Lasset uns beten für den Frieden und die Ruhe der Welt und der hl. Kirchen, damit der Gott des All uns seinen immerwährenden und beständigen Frieden gewähre und uns fort und fort in der Fülle der Frömmigkeit und Tugendhaftigkeit bewahre.

Lasset uns beten für die hl. katholische und apostolische Kirche, die von den einen Grenzen der Erde bis zu den andern reicht, damit sie der Herr unerschüttert und von den Wogen nicht bestürmt behüte und bewahre bis zur Vollendung in der Ewigkeit, sie, die auf den Felsen gegründete.

Lasset uns beten für diese Parochie hier, damit der Herr des All uns würdige, fort und fort seine himmlische Hoffnung zu erlangen und ihm unablässig den Tribut des Gebetes darzubringen.

Lasset uns beten für den Episkopat auf der ganzen Erde, die das Wort der Wahrheit recht verwalten, für unsern Bischof Jakobus und seine Parochianen, für unseren Bischof Klemens und seine Parochianen, für unseren Bischof Evodius und seine Parochianen, damit der barmherzige Gott sie seinen Kirchen erhalte gesund, geehrt, lange lebend und ihnen ein geehrtes Alter schenke in Frömmigkeit und Gerechtigkeit.

Lasset uns auch beten für unsere Presbyter, damit der Herr sie befreie von allem sündhaften und bösen Thun und ihnen ein gesundes und geehrtes Presbyterium ge-währe.

Lasset uns beten für die ganze christliche Diakonie und Dienerschaft, damit der Herr ihnen einen untadelhaften Dienst verleihe, — für die Lektoren, Sänger, Jungfrauen, Wittwen und Waisen, — für die in der Ehe und Kindererzeugung Lebenden, damit der Herr sich Aller erbarme.

Lasset uns beten für die Eunuchen, die in Heiligkeit wandeln, — für die, welche in Enthaltsamkeit und Gottesfurcht leben, — für die, welche in der hl. Kirche Gaben S. 273 darbringen und den Armen Almosen geben, für die, welche Gott, unsern Herrn, Opfer und Erstlinge darbringen, damit der allgütige Gott ihnen dafür himmlische Gaben eintausche, sie ihnen im gegenwärtigen Leben hundertfältig wiedergebe und in dem andern das ewige Leben, und damit er ihnen für das Zeitliche das Ewige und für das Irdische das Himmlische schenke.

Lasset uns auch beten für die Neophyten, unsere Brüder, damit der Herr sie stärke und befestige.

Lasset uns beten für unsere in Krankheit geprüften Brüder, damit der Herr sie befreie von aller Krankheit und allem Übelbefinden und sie gesund seiner hl. Kirche zurückgebe. —- Für die auf dem Meere und auf Reisen, — für die in den Bergwerken, im Exil, Kerker und in Banden um deines Namens willen Befindlichen, für Alle, die in harter Knechtschaft seufzen, lasset uns beten!

Lasset uns beten für die Feinde und die uns hassen, — für die, welche uns um des Namens des Herrn willen verfolgen, damit der Herr ihre Wuth mildere, ihren Zorn gegen uns verscheuche, — für die, welche ausserhalb sind und irren, damit der Herr sie bekehre.

Lasset uns auch der Unmündigen der Kirche gedenken, damit der Herr sie in seiner Furcht vollkommen mache und sie zum Vollalter führe. Für einander lasset uns beten, damit uns der Herr durch seine Gnade bewahre und behüte bis zum Ende, uns befreie vom Bösen und allen Ärgernissen Derer, die Übles thun, und uns rette in sein himmlisches Reich. Lasset uns beten für jede christliche Seele. Gott, rette und richte uns auf durch deine Barmherzigkeit! Lasset uns aufstehen ! Eifrig betend, lasset uns selbst und die Andern dem lebendigen Gott durch seinen Christus anempfehlen. Es bete aber der Bischof und sage:

X. The Bidding Prayer for the Faithful.

Let us pray for the peace and happy settlement of the world, and of the holy churches; that the God of the whole world may afford us His everlasting peace, and such as may not be taken away from us; that He may preserve us in a full prosecution of such virtue as is according to godliness. Let us pray for the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church which is spread from one end of the earth to the other; that God would preserve and keep it unshaken, and free from the waves of this life, until the end of the world, as founded upon a rock; and for the holy parish in this place, that the Lord of the whole world may vouchsafe us without failure to follow after His heavenly hope, and without ceasing to pay Him the debt of our prayer. Let us pray for every episcopacy which is under the whole heaven, of those that rightly divide the word of Thy truth. And let us pray for our bishop James,¹ and his parishes; let us pray for our bishop Clement, and his parishes; let us pray for our bishop Euodius, and his parishes; let us pray for our bishop Annianus, and his parishes: that the compassionate God may grant them to continue in His holy churches in health, honour, and long life, and afford them an honourable old age in godliness and righteousness. And let us pray for our presbyters, that the Lord may deliver them from every unreasonable and wicked action, and afford them a presbyterate in health and honour. Let us pray for all the deacons and ministers in Christ, that the Lord may grant them an unblameable ministration. Let us pray for the readers, singers, virgins, widows, and orphans. Let us pray for those that are in marriage and in child-bearing, that the Lord may have mercy upon them all. Let us pray for the eunuchs who walk holily. Let us pray for those in a state of continence and piety. Let us pray for those that bear fruit in the holy Church, and give alms to the needy. And let us pray for those who offer sacrifices and oblations to the Lord our God, that God, the fountain of all goodness, may recompense them with His heavenly gifts, and "give them in this world an hundredfold, and in the world to come life everlasting;"² and bestow upon them for their temporal things, those that are eternal; for earthly things, those that are heavenly. Let us pray for our brethren newly enlightened, that the Lord may strengthen and confirm them. Let us pray for our brethren exercised with sickness, that the Lord may deliver them from every sickness and every disease, and restore them sound into His holy Church. Let us pray for those that travel by water or by land. Let us pray for those that are in the mines, in banishments, in prisons, and in bonds, for the name of the Lord. Let us pray for those that are afflicted with bitter servitude. Let us pray for our enemies, and those that hate us. Let us pray for those that persecute us for the name of the Lord, that the Lord may pacify their anger, and scatter their wrath against us. Let us pray for those that are without, and are wandered out of the way, that the Lord may convert them. Let us be mindful of the infants of the Church, that the Lord may perfect them in His fear, and bring them to a complete age. Let us pray one for another, that the Lord may keep us and preserve us by His grace to the end, and deliver us from the evil one. and from all the scandals of those that work iniquity, and preserve us unto His heavenly kingdom. Let us pray for every Christian soul. Save us, and raise us up, O God, by Thy mercy. Let us rise up, and let us pray earnestly, and dedicate ourselves and one another to the living God, through His Christ. And let the high priest add this prayer, and say:--
