27. Von der Ordination des Bischofs; Simon, der Kananite.

Ich aber, Simon, der Kananite, verordne, von wie Vielen der Bischof geweiht werden soll. Ein Bischof werde von zwei oder drei Bischöfen geweiht; wenn aber Jemand von e i n e m Bischof geweiht worden ist, so soll er selbst und der ihn geweiht hat, abgesetzt werden. Wenn es aber dringende Noth ist, von e i n e m ordinirt zu werden, nämlich wenn wegen Verfolgung oder einer andern Ursache mehrere nicht zugegen sein können, so soll er ein Zeugniß der Bevollmächtigung mehrerer Bischöfe beihringen.

XXVII. Simon the Canaanite Concerning the Number Necessary for the Ordination of a Bishop.

¹ And I Simon the Canaanite² make a constitution to determine by how many a bishop ought to be elected. Let a bishop be ordained by three or two bishops; but if any one be ordained by one bishop, let him be deprived, both himself and he that ordained him. But if there be a necessity that he have only one to ordain him, because more bishops cannot come together, as in time of persecution, or for such like causes, let him bring the suffrage of permission from more bishops.
