31. Von Demselben; über die Eulogien.

Betreffs der Überbleibsel verordne ich: Die Eulogien, welche bei der Geheimnißfeier übrig bleiben (das nicht consecrirte Opfermaterial), sollen die Diakonen nach dem Willen des Bischofs oder der Priester an den Klerus austheilen und zwar dem Bischof vier Theile, dem Priester drei, dem Diakon zwei Theile, den Übrigen aber, den Subdiakonen, den Lektoren, den Kantoren und den Diakonissinen einen Theil. Denn das ist schön und Gott angenehm, einen Jeglichen nach seiner Würde zu ehren; denn die Kirche ist nicht der Unordnung, sondern der Ordnung Schule.

XXXI. The Same Apostle's Constitutions Concerning the Remaining Oblations.

I the same make a constitution in regard to remainders. Those eulogies which remain at the mysteries, let the deacons distribute them among the clergy, according to the mind of the bishop or the presbyters: to a bishop; four parts; to a presbyter, three¹ parts; to a deacon, two² parts; and to the rest of the sub-deacons, or readers, or singers, or deaconesses, one part. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God, that every one be honoured according to his dignity; for the Church is the school, not of confusion, but of good order.
