XIX. Concerning the Deaconess--The Constitution of Bartholomew.

Concerning a deaconess, I Bartholomew1 make this constitution: O bishop, thou shalt lay thy hands upon her in the presence of the presbytery, and of the deacons and deaconesses, and shall say:--

  1. One V. ms. has the following note: "Bartholomew preached the Gospel according to Matthew to the Indians, who also has been buried in India." ↩
