Works Hippolytus of Rome (170-235) The Refutation of All Heresies
Book X.

Chapter XXIV.--Hermogenes.

But one Hermogenes himself also being desirous of saying something, asserted that God made all things out of matter coeval with Himself, and subject to His design. For Hermogenes 1 held it to be an impossibility that God should make the things that were made, except out of existent things.

  1. Cruice considers that Theodoret has taken his account (Haer. Fab., i. 19) from this tenth book of The Refutation. ↩
