Wherefore, as I have already stated, no other is named as God, or is called Lord, except Him who is God and Lord of all, who also said to Moses, "I am that I am. And thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel: He who is, hath sent me unto you;" ¹ and His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who makes those that believe in His name the sons of God. And again, when the Son speaks to Moses, He says, "I am come down to deliver this people." ² For it is He who descended and ascended for the salvation of men. Therefore God has been declared through the Son, who is in the Father, and has the Father in Himself --He who is, the Father bearing witness to the Son, and the Son announcing the Father.--As also Esaias says, "I too am witness," he declares, "saith the Lord God, and the Son whom I have chosen, that ye may know, and believe, and understand that I am." ³

Kein anderer also, wie gesagt, heißt Gott oder wird Herr genannt als jener allerhöchste Gott und Herr, der auch zu Moses sprach: „Ich bin, der ich bin. Sage also den Söhnen Israels: Der, welcher ist, hat mich zu euch gesandt“¹ . Sein Sohn ist Jesus Christus, unser S. 220Herr, der die zu Söhnen Gottes macht, die an seinen Namen glauben. Und abermals spricht der Sohn zu Moses, wenn es heißt: „Ich bin herabgestiegen, dieses Volk zu erretten“² . Denn er ist es, der herabstieg und hinaufstieg, die Menschen zu erlösen. Durch den Sohn also, der im Vater ist und in sich den Vater hat, der da ist, hat sich Gott geoffenbart, indem der Vater für den Sohn Zeugnis ablegt und der Sohn den Vater verkündigt. In diesem Sinne spricht Isaias: „Und ich bin Zeuge, spricht Gott der Herr, und der Sohn, den ich erwählt habe, damit ihr erkennet und glaubet und einsehet, daß ich es bin“³ .
