The First Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians

Chapter LIV.--He Who is Full of Love Will Incur Every Loss, that Peace May Be Restored to the Church.

Who then among you is noble-minded? who compassionate? who full of love? Let him declare, "If on my account sedition and disagreement and schisms have arisen, I will depart, I will go away whithersoever ye desire, and I will do whatever the majority ¹ commands; only let the flock of Christ live on terms of peace with the presbyters set over it." He that acts thus shall procure to himself great glory in the Lord; ² and every place will welcome ³ him. For "the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof." ⁴ These things they who live a godly life that is never to be repented of, both have done and always will do.

Erster Brief an die Korinther (BKV)

54. Kap. Der Edelmütige soll zum Vorteil der Gemeinde persönliche Opfer bringen und auswandern.

1. Wer ist nun unter euch edelmütig, wer barmherzig, wer voll Liebe? 2. Der soll sprechen: Wenn ich schuld bin an Aufruhr, Streit und Zwietracht, so wandere ich aus, ziehe fort, wohin ihr wollt, und tue, was die Mehrheit vorschreibt; nur soll die Herde Christi in Frieden leben mit ihren bestellten Presbytern. 3. Wer so handelt, wird sich großen Ruhm in Christus erwerben, und jeglicher Ort wird ihn aufnehmen. „Denn dem Herrn gehört die Erde und was in ihr ist“¹. 4. So haben gehandelt und so werden handeln, die ohne Vorwurf den Weg Gottes gehen.
