4.

For this reason, too, when the chief priests were assembled, Peter, full of boldness, said to them, "Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, if we this day be examined by you of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he has been made whole; be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head-stone of the corner. [Neither is there salvation in any other: for] there is none other name under heaven, which is given to men, whereby we must be saved:" ¹ Thus the apostles did not change God, but preached to the people that Christ was Jesus the crucified One, whom the same God that had sent the prophets, being God Himself, raised up, and gave in Him salvation to men.

Deshalb spricht Petrus wiederum voll Zuversicht zu dem versammelten Hohen Rate: „Ihr Vorsteher des Volkes, ihr Ältesten, ihr Männer Israels! Wenn wir heute von euch wegen der Wohltat gegen den kranken Menschen zur Rede gestellt werden, in wem er gesund geworden ist, so sei euch allen und dem ganzen Volke Israel bekannt, daß im Namen Jesu Christi von Nazareth, den ihr gekreuzigt, Gott aber von den Toten auferweckt hat, daß in ihm dieser vor eurem Angesichte gesund dasteht. Dies ist der Stein, der von euch Bauleuten ist verachtet worden, und der zum Eckstein geworden ist. Und es ist kein anderer Name unter dem Himmel, der den Menschen gegeben ist, in dem wir gerettet werden müssen“¹ . So haben die Apostel Gott S. 250nicht geändert, sondern dem Volke verkündet, daß der Gesalbte jener Jesus sei, der gekreuzigt wurde, und den Gott, derselbe Gott, der auch die Propheten gesandt hat, auferweckte, um in ihm die Menschen zu erlösen.
