Third Book.

45.

That hope is of future things, and therefore that our faith concerning those things which are promised ought to be patient.

In the Epistle of Paul to the Romans: "We are saved by hope. But hope that is seen is not hope; for what a man seeth, why doth he hope for? But if we hope for what we see not, we hope 1 for it in patience." 2

  1. Some read" exspectamus," "we wait for it." ↩

  2. Rom. viii. 24, 25. ↩
