Ja, was noch mehr ist, ihr führt auf diese Weise dieselben nicht so wohl als leichtsinnig und aufbrausend ein, sondern auch, was doch von den Göttern weithin entfernt seyn sollte, als unwillig, ungerecht, überhaupt als gänzlich untheilhaftig des Gleichmuthes und der Mäßigung: denn was ist so ungerecht als Andern zu zürnen, Anderen Schaden zuzufügen, S. 33 über Menschen sich zu beklagen und unschädliche Frucht zu verwüsten? den christlichen Namen zu hassen und seine Bekenner mit allem Aufwand zu verberben?

19.

Moreover, in this way you represent them as not only unstable and excitable, but, what all agree is far removed from the character of deity, as unfair in their dealings, as wrong-doers, and, in fine, as possessing positively no amount of even moderate fairness. For what is a greater wrong than to be angry with some, and to injure others, to complain of human beings, and to ravage the harmless corn crops, to hate the Christian name, and to ruin the worshippers of Christ with every kind of loss?
