Le saint homme Hesychius, ayant appris cette nouvelle en Palestine , vint en Cypre; et, feignant de vouloir demeurer dans le même petit jardin, afin d'imiter tout soupçon aux habitants et d'empêcher que, se défiant de lui, ils ne l'observassent, il déroba son corps, environ dix mois après, avec lui tris grand danger de sa vie, et le porta à Majuma , où , avec tous les solitaires et les habitants des environs qui l'accompagnaient par grandes troupes, il l'enterra dans son ancien monastère. Sa haire, sa cape et son petit manteau étaient encore au même état que lorsqu'il mourut, et tout son corps, aussi entier que s'il eût été vivant , répandait une odeur si excellente qu'il semblait qu'il eût été embaumé avec des parfums précieux.

46.

When the holy man Hesychius heard of his decease, he went to Cyprus and, to lull the suspicions of the natives who were keeping strict guard, pretended that he wished to live in the same garden, and then in the course of about ten months, though at great peril to his P. 315 life, stole the saint’s body. He carried it to Majuma; and there all the monks and crowds of towns-folk going in procession laid it to rest in the ancient monastery. His tunic, cowl and cloak, were uninjured; the whole body as perfect as if alive, and so fragrant with sweet odours that one might suppose it to have been embalmed.
