6. Der Antichrist ist in Allem das Zerrbild von Christus.

Da der Herr Gott Jesus Christus wegen seiner Königswürde und Herrlichkeit wie ein Löwe verkündigt worden ist¹, so haben die Schriften in gleicher Weise auch den Antichrist wegen seiner Tyrannei und Gewaltthätigkeit einen S. 19 Löwen genannt. Denn in Allem will der Verführer dem Sohne Gottes ähnlich sein. Weil Christus ein Löwe, daher auch der Antichrist ein Löwe, weil Christus ein König auch der Antichrist ein König.² Weil der Erlöser sich als Lamm zeigte,³ so wird er auch als Lamm erscheinen, während er im Innern ein Wolf ist. Weil der Erlöser in der Beschneidung⁴ in die Welt kam, so wird auch er daher kommen. Der Herr sandte Apostel zu allen Völkern, er wird gleichfalls falsche Apostel aussenden. Der Erlöser sammelte die zerstreuten Schafe,⁵ er wird ebenfalls das zerstreute Volk versammeln. Der Herr gab denen, die an ihn glauben, ein Siegel, das Gleiche wird er thun. Der Erlöser erschien in der Gestalt eines Menschen, Jener wird auch in der Gestalt eines Menschen kommen. Der Erlöser stellte sein heiliges Fleisch dar und wies darauf hin, wie auf einen Tempel,⁶ Jener wird zu Jerusalem den steinernen Tempel errichten. Seine Verführungskünste wollen wir in dem Folgenden darlegen und jetzt zu der Aufgabe übergehen.

Now, as our Lord Jesus Christ, who is also God, was prophesied of under the figure of a lion, ¹ on account of His royalty and glory, in the same way have the Scriptures also aforetime spoken of Antichrist as a lion, on account of his tyranny and violence. For the deceiver seeks to liken himself in all things to the Son of God. Christ is a lion, so Antichrist is also a lion; Christ is a king, ² so Antichrist is also a king. The Saviour was manifested as a lamb; ³ so he too, in like manner, will appear as a lamb, though within he is a wolf. The Saviour came into the world in the circumcision, and he will come in the same manner. The Lord sent apostles among all the nations, and he in like manner will send false apostles. The Saviour gathered together the sheep that were scattered abroad, ⁴ and he in like manner will bring together a people that is scattered abroad. The Lord gave a seal to those who believed on Him, and he will give one in like manner. The Saviour appeared in the form of man, and he too will come in the form of a man. The Saviour raised up and showed His holy flesh like a temple, ⁵ and he will raise a temple of stone in Jerusalem. And his seductive arts we shall exhibit in what follows. But for the present let us turn to the question in hand.
