Did they then stop here? No. For Eutropius ¹, who was Bishop of Adrianople, a good man, and excellent in all respects, because he had often convicted Eusebius, and had advised them who came that way, not to comply with his impious dictates, suffered the same treatment as Eustathius, and was cast out of his city and his Church. Basilina ² was the most active in the proceedings against him. And Euphration of Balanea, Kymatius of Paltus, Carterius of Antaradus ³, Asclepas of Gaza, Cyrus of Berœa in Syria, Diodorus of Asia, Domnion of Sirmium, and Ellanicus of Tripolis, were merely known to hate the heresy; and some of them on one pretence or another, some without any, they removed under the authority of royal letters, drove them out of their cities, and appointed others whom they knew to be impious men, to occupy the Churches in their stead.

Blieben sie nun bei diesem stehen? Nein. Denn Eutropius, einst Bischof zu Adrianopel, ein braver und in Allem vollkommener Mann, hat, weil er den Eusebius öfter überführte und den daselbst Durchreisenden rieth, den gottlosen Worten des Eusebius nicht zu folgen, dasselbe wie Eustathius zu erdulden, und ist aus der Stadt und aus seiner Kirche vertrieben; denn Basilina¹ ward heftig wider ihn aufgebracht. Auch Euphration von Balanea, und Cymatius von Paltus, ein anderer Cymatius von Taradus, Asklepas von Gaza, Cyrus von Beröa in Syrien, Diodorus in Asien, Domnion zu Sirmium, und Hellanicus zu Tripolis wurden, sobald man erfuhr, daß sie die Ketzerei hassen, theils wegen erdichteter Verbrechen, theils ohne solche, durch kaiserliche Schreiben versetzt, und aus der Stadt vertrieben; und anstatt ihrer wurden Andere, deren Gottlosigkeit bekannt war, in die Kirchen derselben eingesetzt.
